Nicocig Plus – Electronic Cigarette Review
The Nicocig Plus was the third electronic cigarette that I purchased, and the product I used to wean myself off of nicotine. Having not been to impressed with the previous two cigarettes that I had bought, this was going to be my last foray into the world of electronic cigarettes.
The first electronic cigarette I bought was a cheap model off of a market stall which ended up in the bin as it tasted foul and regularly leaked nicotine into my mouth. I can’t remember he make and haven’t seen it for sale anywhere else since, so I presume it wasn’t on the market for long for those reasons.
The second version I bought was the Gamucci Nicovap (see here for a review) which whilst a whole lot better than the first model I purchased, it still wasn’t right for me.
So I thought I’d try one more model before forgetting about the electronic cigarette entirely, and I’m glad I did. It took me a little while to get used to its size and weight, but once I had done that it was a pleasure to use.
The Starter Kit
I was impressed with the Nicocig’s delivery time and customer service from the outset. I placed the order in the morning and it was with me the next day, without having to pay any extra next day delivery charges. On unpacking the starter kit I found there was a problem with one of the batteries, and after a quick and painless phone call to Nicocig a new battery arrived the next day.
The starter kit is packed into a nice looking presentation box and contains everything you need to get you started.

Nicocig Plus Presentation Box
The box contains:
- 2 Rechargeable Batteries – 1 Green LED & 1 Orange LED
- 1 Mains Battery Charger
- 4 Tobacco Flavored Nicotine Cartridges – 1 of each 12mg, 8mg, 4mg and 0mg
- 1 Atomiser
- 1 Velvet Carry Case
- 1 Instruction Manual

Assembling the Nicocig Plus
You’ll be pleased to hear that assembling the Nicocig Plus electronic cigarette is a simple and straight forward process as it only has three parts.
The first thing you need to do is fully charge the battery, which is simply a matter of plugging the power cable into the charger, gently screwing the battery into the charger and then plugging the 3 pin plug into a wall socket. The indicator light on the charger will then turn red, indicating that it is charging, changing to amber and finally green when fully charged. A full charge takes between 2.5 and 3 hours.
When your battery is fully charged you simply have to gently screw the atomiser onto the battery. Remove a nicotine cartridge from its packaging and take off the blue end caps. Then simply push the nicotine cartridge over the atomiser attached to the battery and your done. Your electronic cigarette is now ready for use.

Nicocig Plus Assembly
Using The Nicocig Plus
If you are anything like me you’ll find using the Nicocig Plus a little odd at first as there are some differences to smoking a tobacco based cigarette.
The first thing you’ll notice is its size and weight, especially if you smoke hand rolled cigarettes as I did. The Nicocig plus when fully assembled measures about 11cm in length, which is about 1cm longer than the average Superking cigarette. It’s heavier than a tobacco cigarette as well so your not likely to walk around with it hanging out of your mouth, as I often would do when working.
The next difference you’ll have to get used to is taking longer drags on the Nicocig Plus in order to generate a decent amount of vapour. Once you get used to using it though, which took me about a week or so, you’ll find it produces a good amount of vapour and will generate that familiar feeling at the back of the throat.

Nicocig Plus Size Comparison
Nicocig Plus Batteries
The batteries on the Nicocig Plus are longer than on some other similarly designed electronic cigarettes such as the Gamucci Nicovap or TECC Super Mini, in fact the battery is about 1.5cm longer than either of those models. measuring about 8cm in length excluding the LED.
This extra length, as you would expect, gives the Nicocig Plus batteries a longer working life, and with my smoking habits would last the full day between charges. I’m probably more of a light to medium smoker now, smoking at most about the equivalent of 10-12 tobacco cigarettes a day, although it’s hard to judge as my usage pattern has changed.
The kit comes with 2 batteries, one with an orange led and 1 with a green led, so most smokers shouldn’t have any problems with having to wait for batteries to charge. Spare batteries can be purchased from their website, so should you find you need more then it’s not a problem. There is also a usb charger for sale on their site should you prefer that option to a mains charger.
Nicocig Plus Nicotine Cartridges

Nicocig Plus Nicotine Cartridges
The Nicocig Plus nicotine cartridges have been completely redesigned from the orriginal Nicocig model, and are now just 2.7cm long compared to the 3.6cm of the Gamucci Nicovap and TECC Super Mini.
The website claims that each cartridges lasts for between 170 to 220 puffs which is the equivalent of 15 tobacco based cigarettes. I’d personally say it was more like the equivalent 10-12 tobacco cigarettes, but then it will depend on the brand, size and type of cigarette that you currently smoke.
Each pack of 4 cartridges that you buy also comes with a free atomiser. On some other brands of electronic cigarette you have to by the atomisers separately which can need replacing anywhere from between 14 to 60 days.
They are also available in either Tobacco or Menthol flavours. I personally used both and bought a couple of extra batteries so that I could carry both menthol and tobacco flavours with me.
Tobacco flavour cartridges are available in 12mg, 8mg, 4mg and 0mg nicotine strengths, while the nicotine versions are currently available in 12mg or 8mg strengths. The taste of the tobacco flavour, while not the same as the hand rolling tobacco I used to smoke, is not unpleasant, in fact once I’d used it for I while I found I actually preferred it. One thing I will point out though is that the cartridges do have a strong smell to them, it’s not a smell that I found unpleasant but it was noticeable to other people.
Conclusion
Would I recommend the Nicocig Plus to a friend? In a word Yes
The Nicocig Plus electronic cigarette has pretty good battery life, a pleasant taste, a choice of menthol or tobacco flavours and produces a decent amount of vapour.
Spare parts are available via the website or via telephone, and if you have a problem the Nicocig staff are pleasant and friendly and will do their best to help you.
The only 2 things I’d like to see added to the range are other flavours, so that should you not like the taste of the Nicocig Plus you could just purchase a different flavoured cartridge, and a car charger for those who spend a lot of time on the road.
Admittedly when I first tried it I wasn’t sure about it, but after a week or so of using both the Nicocig Plus and my hand rolled cigarettes I got used to it and made the switch, and haven’t smoked a real tobacco cigarette since about the end of February 2010.
So if you are not bothered about trying out different flavours and want an electronic cigarette that looks like a tobacco cigarette from a distance, has a decent battery life, easily purchasable spares and produces a decent of vapour and a good throat hit, then the Nicocig Plus electronic cigarette is a good choice.

Gamucci Nicovap – Electronic Cigarette Review
Gamucci was one of the first brands of electronic cigarettes that I came across and the Nicovap caught my eye due to it’s addition of vitamins in the nicotine cartridges. This seemed like a good idea, replacing the harmful chemicals found in smoke with a vapour that would not only satisfy my nicotine cravings but also supply me with added vitamins.
So I went online and bought myself a Gamucci Nicovap starter kit, but was it a wise investment and am I still using it? You’ll have to read on to find out.
The Gamucci Nicovap Starter Pack
The Nicovap electronic cigarette arrives in a neat little presentation box, about 11cm x 11cm x 4cm in size, which, as you would expect, contains everything you need to get you started.

The Kit contains:
- 1 x Rechargeable Battery
- 1 x Atomiser
- 5 x Regular (16mg) Nicotine Cartridges
- 1x Carry Case
- 1 x USB Charger
- 1 x Mains Charger
- 1 x User Manual
Assembling the Gamucci Nicovap
The first thing you need to do before assembling the Nicovap is charge the battery, which is simply a matter of screwing the battery into the socket on the USB charger and plugging the other end into the USB socket on your computer, or if you don’t have a computer to hand the the USB cable can be plugged directly into the 3 pin mains charger.
Once charged which took approximately 2 hours with my battery, you can begin the assembly which is a simple process of screwing the atomiser gently into the battery (don’t over tighten). Next remove a nicotine cartridge from the packaging, remove the white bung from the cartridge, and simply slide the cartridge over the atomiser. You should now have a fully assembled Nicovap electronic cigarette.

Using The Gamucci Nicovap
If you have never used an electronic cigarette before then you will find that they operate in a slightly different way to tobacco cigarettes, in that you need to inhale for longer in order to produce a decent amount of vapour and nicotine fix. With a tobacco cigarette you take quick puffs but with the electronic cigarette you’ll have to get used to inhaling for 3 or 4 seconds. At first this may feel odd at first but after a while it becomes second nature.
Depending on the brand of cigarette you smoke the size of the Nicovap may also take a little getting used to as well, as it’s about 10.4 cm in length, including the led, which makes it slightly loner than a Superking.

Nicovap Battery
Battery life isn’t quite as good on the Gamucci Nicovap as some other models and you’ll probably find that it will need charging at least once during the day, or at least my one did. This is a little awkward, as the starter kit only contains 1 battery, so at some point you are going to be without it for about 2 hours while it is being recharged.
The battery also features a safety device that disable the cigarette for 10 seconds should the user inhale consecutively 15 times or more within one minute. or take one long inhalation over 8 seconds, This is to prevent any chance of accidental misuse, but in practice it is just annoying. I wouldn’t say I used it excessively and on average my inhalations were only about 5 seconds in length, but the battery seemed to go into safety mode way to often.
The led indicator light on the end of the battery glows blue when inhaled on. When it flashes slowly and consecutively 20 times you know that the battery is in need of a charge. It also flashes 10 times if used 5 times or more within one minute.
The length of the battery is 6.6cm with an additional 0.3cm for the led, taking the overall length to 6.9cm.
Nicotine Cartridges
The first thing you’ll notice about the Gamucci Nicovap nicotine cartridges are that they are pastel shade of blue. This and the matching blue led makes it easily distinguishable from a tobacco cigarette which helps to avoid any confusion as to what it is.
The inclusion of the vitamins is in theory a good idea, but in practice I’m not sure how many and how much of the vitamins are actually absorbed by your body though, so I wouldn’t use it as a strict vitamin supplement.
They are available in a choice of 4 nicotine strengths: Regular 16mg, Light 11mg, Ultra Light 6mg and JustVit 0mg.
The flavour of the cartridges wasn’t to my tastes and seemed to have a bit of a sweetness to it, I’m not sure if the inclusion of the vitamins was the cause of the sweetness or not, but either way the taste wasn’t to my liking. The throat hit wasn’t all that strong, but it did produce a decent amount of vapour, and is probably the equivalent of a milder brand of tobacco cigarette.
Another thing that was disappointing was how long a single cartridge lasted. On some sites I’ve seen it stated that they are equivalent to 20 tobacco cigarettes, other sites state a more realistic 10-12 , but I’d personally say it was more like 8-10 tobacco cigarettes. It’s a little awkward to judge, especially as I had been used to hand rolled cigarettes, but I tended to change the cartridge once or twice a day.
Conclusion
So overall how did I rate the Gamucci Nicovap electronic cigarette?
Well it’s not a bad electronic cigarette, it produces a decent amount of vapour, looks stylish and is a nice size, but if asked if I would recommend it I’d have to say no.
The main problem I have with the Nicovap, apart from the taste which is just a personal thing and the safety feature on the battery, is that the starter pack only comes with one battery and atomiser. This in-itself whilst annoying shouldn’t be a real problem, as you can always buy an additional battery and atomiser can’t you?
Now that’s where the problem comes in, trying to find replacement parts for the Nicovap, or most of the other models under the Gamucci brand, is a bit of a problem. The kits and cartridges can be bought in a number of places but batteries and atomisers are another thing altogether. About the only way to get an official spare is to buy another starter kit which at over £30 is rather an expensive way of doing it.
To my mind the Gamucci Nicovap is over priced, the product works but you tend to be paying for the Gamucci name, and I’m not overly sure as to how much benefit you’ll receive from the added vitamins. There are plenty of other products out there that work just as well but at a cheaper price.
Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Added vitamins in the nicotine cartridges. | Relatively short nicotine cartridge life |
| Produces a good amount of vapour | Spare parts are hard to find. |
| Comes with a nice cloth carry case. | Expensive for what it is. |
| Doesn’t produce a throat hit. Feels like you are smoking a light cigarette. |
Additional Information Added 1st August 2010
I recently purchased a TECC Super Mini electronic cigarette, reviewed here, and noticed that it uses almost identical parts, the only difference is in the size of the tread on the atomiser where it screws into the battery, so a Nicovap battery won’t fit a TECC Super atomiser. The cartridges of the 2 models will happily interchange so that a Nicovap cartridge will happily work on the TECC Super Mini.
So If you want to try the Nicovap cartridges but don’t want to spend over £30 on the starter kit, then head over to TECC and grab a Super Mini starter kit at just £27.99 which includes 2 batteries. If you don’t mind the instruction manual being in Greek then you can the same kit for just £15.99 while stocks last.
Right Now TECC are having a massive 50% Sale so if you buy before 1st September 2010 can halve the above prices making the Super Mini Starter Kit just £14.00. But you must order before 1st October 2010.

Milano Electronic Cigarette
The Milano electronic cigarette is designed to resemble a real tobacco cigarette, just like the some other brands. According to the Milano’s literature, the replacement cartridges appear to have a longer life than most other electronic cigarettes, with a lifespan equivalent of 20 tobacco cigarettes. They are available in the following flavours:
Tobacco
Chocolate Flavour
Mint Flavour
The Milano electronic cigarette is roughly the length of an average Superking size tobacco cigarette, with its full dimensions being as follows:

Gammuci Nicovap Electronic Cigarette
Gamucci have improved their electronic cigarette yet again, extending the range to include the Gamucci Nicovap. The size has been reduced once again being smaller than both the Gamucci Classic and Micro electronic cigarettes and now lies somewhere between an average kingsize and Superking regular cigarette.
In addition to the smaller size, what really makes this electronic cigarette stand out from others on the market, is the inclusion of vitamins in the replaceable cartridges. So now you are not only to avoid the tobacco, tar, or harmful elements found in usual cigarettes, but you can also top up on your vitamins when you use the electronic cigarette. The cartridges are enriched with the following vitamins A, B1, C, D, E, Co-enzyme Q10 & Green Tea Extract.
The Gamucci Nicovap is styled to look like a normal cigarette, however the filter styled cartridge is blue in colour and the end of the cigarette glows blue instead of red. Depending on your outlook this may be a benefit or drawback, as it won’t look exactly like a cigarette from a distance. It may stop people asking you to put it out though when using it in public areas, as the glowing blue end will set it apart from real cigarettes.

Gamucci Micro Electronic Cigarette
The Gamucci Classic electronic cigarette was a great success, so the makers of this electronic cigarette set about making improvements to the design, making it smaller and more like a regular cigarette. The nicotine cartridge has lost the cigarette holder look, to be replaced with a cartridge that looks more like the filter on a normal cigarette.
Being slighter longer than an average superking cigarette the Gamucci Micro gives a more natural smoking experience. The design still has all the benefits of the classic with no tobacco, tar or smoke but with a more natural appearance.
Cartridges on average are about the equivalent of 15 normal cigarettes. Like the classic the Gamucci Micro cartridges come in a range of nicotine concentrations from 16mg down to 0mg and a range of flavours including tobacco, cherry, menthol and apple.

Gamucci Classic Electronic Cigarette
The Gamucci Classic electronic cigarette is a completely non-flammable alternative to regular cigarettes. This state off the art micro electronic gadget provides a real smoking experience but without the tobacco, tar and smoke of regular cigarettes.
The design of the Gamucci Classic makes it look and function just like a real cigarette in a holder, only it isn’t, providing a healthier and satisfying smoking experience. It produces no second hand smoke or harm to the environment, and as there is need to light it there is no fire risk.
It is made up of three parts, a rechargeable battery, atomiser and nicotine cartridge. When you inhale or draw on the electronic cigarette, the the tip glows red, just like regular cigarettes, while battery heats the atomiser which in-turn vaporises a small amount of liquid nicotine solution. This vapour imitates the smoke produced by regular cigarettes. When you exhale the vapour condenses produces a smoke effect and then evaporates harmlessly away.
Each replaceable nicotine cartridge is approximately equivalent to 20 regular cigarettes, with the battery lasting for around 3 or 4 hours between charges. Spare cartridges can be purchased in a variety of nicotine strengths, from 16mg down to 0mg, and a variety of flavours including tobacco, apple, cherry and menthol.
Join the electronic cigarette revolution with the Gamucci Classic.
